If your dog’s coat is matted we will not be able to brush the matts out meaning the coat will have to be clipped off. Attempting to de-matt a severely matted coat is painful for your pet and can be a very unpleasant experience. Clipping out the matted fur and starting again with your dog’s coat is the best thing to do in the interests of your pet’s comfort and safety.
Matted coats are not just small knots and tangles; it is where the coat has literally knitted together and when clipped will come away much like that of a sheep when sheared. Once the coat has got into this condition we are unable to save it. Matting can cause the dog discomfort as it pulls on the skin. Under the matted coat the skin has been unable to breathe so often the skin is often dry and sore.
We will discuss the severity of the matting when you arrive for your appointment.
Please note there is an additional fee for matted coats due to the extra time and care it takes. The fee is £7 per additional half hour.
Here at Shaggy Chic our appointments are booked to a specific schedule so it is really important that you turn up at the agreed time. We ask that you please don’t turn up too early for your appointment as this can disrupt the current dog that we are working on.
We also ask that you don’t turn up late for an appointment. If you are any more than 15 minutes late for your appointment it will result in your appointment being rescheduled. Please, if you’re running late it is worth giving me a call or text as in quiet periods I may be still able to accommodate you, however in busier periods it will unfortunately result in your appointment being rescheduled.
If you cannot attend your appointment please give us 24 hours notice where possible. I understand sometimes life throws us situations that we cannot help so I understand if your appointment needs to be cancelled or re scheduled.
Late cancelling or no shows will incur a £5 fee added onto the next grooming appointment.
